Obituary of Vasile Varsogea

Vasile Olimpio Varsogea was born in Monroe, Michigan on January 26, 1939. He was one of two boys born from the union of the late Vasile Varsogea and the late Maria (Streza) Varsogea. He attended Wayne State University obtaining his Bachelor Degree.
For many years he was President of Criminal Justice Consulting Group. Olimpio traveled the country consulting all types of law enforcement agencies from local to the United States Border Patrol. He assisted these law enforcement agencies with reviews and evaluations.
Olimpio was also very active in his local community serving in many capacities with different organizations. He enjoyed amateur radio and was known on the HAM radio by his call sign WB8SEZ. He was a member of the Monroe County Radio Communications Association, served as an EOC Liaison to the Monroe County Emergency Management Division, and a member of the Michigan Sheriff's Association. Olimpio served as a board member of the Monroe County Opportunity Program, and as a Cable Commissioner for Monroe Public Access. He had served as a planner for the City of Monroe and as a housing director for the Monroe Housing Commission. Olimpio had also been a volunteer with the American Red Cross.
Vasile Olimpio Varsogea age 73 of Monroe passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, January 6, 2013. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by his brother: Cornell Varsogea.
To cherish his memory he leaves two nephews: Charles (Becky) Varsogea of Coronado, California and Curt (Leslie) Varsogea of Monroe; one niece: Jennifer (Andrew) Johnson of Houston, Texas; and seven great nieces and nephews: Nick, Katie, Alex, and Karissa Varsogea, MacKenzie Steele, and Logan and Lexi Varsogea.
Cremation has taken place. Friends may gather from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Friday, January 11, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 7:00pm with the Rev. Adam Davis pastor of Elevate Church in Monroe officiating.
