Aunt Sue was a huge part of my life. From as far as I can remember, she's been there. From baby sitting me at her and grannys house; to the many vacations together. I always loved going to see her. Every holiday we would go to Susie and grannys then it turned into Susie and Skids (Woody).I remember that no matter what, she'd get up and do anything for this family, which as a little girl, I felt secure that someone so special was capable of helping out and being there as much as she could. Then when a few things were rough, she opened up her home to me to come live in for a couple of years. She did everything to make me feel right at home, and was an incredible role model. Her and my grandfather took such great care of us, and i'll always remember waking up to her happy mood, wonderful smile and laughter. I always saw the look of joy, happiness, care and everything positive from Susie when it came to me and my brothers; We were like the grandkids she never had. I knew that was one woman who loved us with every bit of her heart. Every single time I spoke to her, she'd never forget to tell me how much she loved me. She cared about this family and made it clear she did, and we loved her just as much, if not more, back. She always made sure my family was fed, and had everything we needed. Every time I spoke to Susie, she made sure to ask how I was doing in every aspect of my life, she always remembered what was going on from the last time I spoke to her. She made sure I was doing good in school, asking me about work and friends and even how they were doing and even remembered what was going on in their lives. It always surprised me and made me laugh, I would think to myself, how does she never forget such small things... she cared and knew what was happening in my life. I love her so much and she will be greatly missed and will forever be in my heart.

Me and my family were so truly blessed to have Susie for our aunt, she was one of a kind and one of the sweetest people you could ever ask for, she made everyone she met feel like family. She was way more than our aunt, she was a grandma to my kids and a 2nd mom to me. The memories we have with her are endless, from the many family vacations with her to her and my dad helping me raise my kids, she was an amazing roll model for them and had a huge influence in their lives, they wouldn't be who they are today without her, she helped them with homework, took them to school, made sure dinner was ready at 5:00, woke them up with a smile everyday and made her house home to them, she always put everyone else 1st! We were so truly blessed to have her in our lives and we are going to miss her dearly everyday!

My heart has been heavy since learning of Barb's death. My sincere condolences to Donna & the entire family. I first met Barb in 1978 when I was hired by the ISD as one of her subordinates. At that time, Barb was battling another cancer & was an example to everyone on how to "keep on living inspite of roadblocks". She not only instructed me in employment, but inspired me which I drew on during my own "roadblocks" 20+ yrs. later. Her courage was incredible. I heard Barb fought this battle just as hard, but this time God decided it was time she join Don, her loving husband who died too young. May Barb rest in peace with the Lord.

I worked with Barb for many years and she was a dear friend and a beautiful person. When I became Assistant Superintendent for Special Education Barb took me under her wing and mentored me on school finances. I attended state business meetings with her and soaked up as much of her knowledge as I could. Barb had a brilliant mind and a great sense of humor. When I became Superintendent of the MCISD, Barb stayed on longer than she needed to so I could find the right person to fill her job. She gave so much to others. I cherished her as a friend and colleague and am deeply saddened by her passing. God bless Barb and her family.
