Obituary of Thomas Ray McMullin
Thomas Ray McMullin was born in Monroe, Michigan on November 18, 1951. He was the son of Edward James McMullin and Edith Marie (Buskirk) McMullin. Thomas was a 1970 graduate of Monroe High School. Shortly after high school he would move to Alaska with his brother Charles to help perform masonry work. He would come back to Monroe two years later where he would spend the rest of his life.
Thomas married the former Jeanette Geiger and the couple would have a daughter: Monica. For many years he would work as a Union Laborer in the construction industry. After leaving the union Thomas was self-employed for many years performing odds-and-ends in the Downtown Monroe community. Amongst his many skills he was an excellent wallpaperer.
Thomas loved cheap beer and he liked to hang at the end of the bar at Senior Cactus. He lent a hand in the kitchen often and could typically be found helping to make the soup. He was also a familiar face at Beeks.
Thomas Ray McMullin, age 70, of Monroe passed away on Tuesday; February 15, 2022 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital due to complications from a fall. His passing was preceded by his parents; his only child: Monica Schlorff; four brothers: Richard Frey Blakeman, Charles Edward Blakeman, Larry Lee McMullin, and Robert Joseph McMullin; and one sister: Barbara Sue Downs.
To cherish his memory he leaves two grandsons: Trevor J. Schlorff and Logan E. Schlorff; siblings: Phyllis Jean Kastle of Blissfiled, Mary Lou (Jim) Ziegler of The Villages, Florida, Delores Ann (Thomas) Balk of Monroe, James (Pat) McMullin of Monroe of Monroe, David Allyn McMullin of Monroe, Kathy Marie (Pete) Robidoux of Monroe, and William Hobert McMullin of Monroe; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30pm on Monday; February 21, 2022 at Woodland Cemetery; 438 Jerome Street, Monroe, Michigan 48161. Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070 has been entrusted with his arrangements.
