Obituary of Sheila Ann Haynes
Sheila Ann Johnson was born in Monroe, Michigan on June 30, 1948. She was the second oldest of five children born to the union of the late Leo Xavier Johnson and the late Beatrice (DuVall) Johnson. She attended St. Mary Grade School through the fifth grade, Cantrick Middle School, and Ida High School. She would be proud to later earn her diploma as an adult.
From her first marriage, Sheila, was blessed with two sons: Steve and Michael. She married Thomas Alan Haynes on November 10, 1973, in Monroe and the couple were again blessed with a third son: Thomas II. Sheila was a wonderful mother always making time for her children. She served as a Den Mother and as a Teacher’s Aide for the school. She was supportive and the glue that kept the family together. She enjoyed making dinners and hosting holiday gathering for the entire family. She believed in these traditions and did whatever it took to make sure they continued to happen.
In fact, the only thing more important to Sheila than her family was her relationship with her Lord, whom she lived her life for. Sheila was a licensed minister and enjoyed performing jail outreach. She was a prayer warrior, and in her basement “war room” she prayed relentlessly for everyone around her. She served in integral part in birth and continued ministry of the House of Restoration.
Sheila was employed by the State of Michigan Unemployment Office for many years. She loved the opportunity to help other as a benefits representative. She retired in 2003.
Sheila put up an amazing fight, and after a valiant second battle with cancer she accepted care from ProMedica Monroe Hospice. On that day, Tuesday; February 1, 2022 she received visitors. Even in those final hours she continued touting the gospel to her children and encouraging them to take the “Grace” card. Dozens of members of her church came and stood at her window singing hymns to encourage her. She had visits with all of her grandchildren as they laid their heads in her lap and told them how much she loved them.
Sheila Ann Haynes, age 73, of Monroe went to sleep in this life and woke up with the Lord, with all her family ushering her into heaven on Saturday; February 5, 2022. Her passing was preceded by her parents.
To cherish her memory she leaves her beloved husband of forty-eight years: Thomas Alan Haynes of Monroe; three sons: Steven (Charity) Anthony of National City, Michigan, Michael (Cathryn) Anthony of Newport, Thomas (Jeanette) Haynes II of Monroe; two sisters: Diane Dusseau of LaSalle and Janice (Michael) Perry of Erie; two brothers: Leo X. (Debbie) Johnson and Ron (Rochelle) Johnson both of Monroe; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great grandchildren.
