Obituary of Jimmy V. Turner

Please share a memory of Jimmy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jimmy Vaughn Turner was born on June 3, 1936, in Speedwell, Tennessee. He was one of eight children born from the union of Herbert A. and Rhonda A. (McCarty) Turner.

Jimmy married the former Mary Ella Leach and the couple would be blessed with four children.  Jimmy provided for his family by taking employment at the Chrysler Corporation as a production line worker.   Jimmy and Mary cherished each other until Mary’s passing in 1995.   Jimmy later met and married Patty Jane Pendleton-Turner in 1998.

Jimmy was a man of devout Christian faith.  He received his spiritual nourishment attending services at Evergreen Acres Missionary Baptist Church.   Jimmy enjoyed staying current on events.   He read the newspaper from front to back daily.   He was always willing to share his newfound wealth of knowledge, especially from that day’s publication, with anyone who would listen.  Jimmy also anxiously anticipated the mailman each day.

Most of the time, Jimmy could be found with remote in hand, sitting in his favorite chair, while playing along and watching the Price Is Right or the Family Feud.   He appreciated the great outdoors and on occasion would hunt small game or drop a line to fish.

Jimmy was an avid word search puzzle solver. He loved to take the puzzles with him in the car to pass time during shopping trips with Patty.  In the summertime, Jimmy could be found rooting for his beloved Detroit Tiger’s Baseball team; especially his favorite player, Miguel Cabrera.
