"Don't cry because it's over, Smile, because it happened." - Dr. Seuss Guy "Chief" Wiseman, 61, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at home in Adrian, MI. Born in Toledo, Ohio on May 17, 1950 to Guy H. Wiseman Sr. and Phyllis (Kinney) Wiseman. After graduating from Bedford Sr. High in 1968, Chief joined the Air Force and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Recently retired, he enjoyed his time at home with his wife, Kathy. He will be remembered for his love of family and his witty sense of humor and active engagement with the world around him. Guy enjoyed activities such as drag racing, camping, traveling, eating BBQ, working on his race cars among many others, An avid drag racing fan and participant, he had worked as a tech inspector for Milan Dragway, and he was especially proud of his own 1970 Roadrunner and of the 1968 Barracuda that he was currently building with his son. In the 1960's Chief participated with The Maumee Demons Drum and Bugle Corps, traveling the mid-west with his father and brother as a member of the drum section. Proceeding Guy in death is his father, Guy H. Sr. (2008) and his son, Guy H. III (1987) and is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen (Combs) Wiseman of Adrian, mother Phyllis Wiseman of Toledo, son Douglass Wiseman of Toledo, and various step children including Shonn Monday of Boston, Ma., Amy Griffith and her significant other Chet, of Toledo, brother Gary (Carol Adkins) Wiseman of Temperance, sisters Beverly (Gary) Wingate of Lambertville, Susan (Andy) Nieman of Lambertville, several grandchildren including, Mackenzie, Zane and Genevieve; and one step great grandchild. Guy is also survived by nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, in laws and friends, all of whom he had been recently reconnecting with on Facebook. Cremation has taken place. Friends may gather at 12:30pm; Saturday, December 17, 2011 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church at 1690 West Sterns Road in Temperance, Michigan with Pastor Frank Paine to celebrate his life. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 has been entrusted with his arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to the family.
