Obituary of Jerome Andrew Mannlein

Jerome Andrew Mannlein was born in Petersburg, Nebraska on April 5, 1930.   He was one of five children born from the union of George and Leona (Friese) Mannlein.   Jerome attended Milan High School and graduated with the Class of 1948.  After high school, he joined the United States Army and served his country honorably during the Korean War.   It was here that he learned to speak German.

Returning to Dundee, Jerome made many friends within the community.   He was a delivery carrier for the United States Postal Service for twenty-nine years.   Many customers were saddened to lose their favorite carrier when Jerome decided to retire.   One of his favorite pastimes was visiting the Wilson and Meyer Hardware store in Dundee, where he and the owner, Mr. Meyer, held countless conversations in German.

Jerome Andrew Mannlein, age 90, passed away at 4:30pm on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Regency of Canton.   In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by two brothers: Raymond Mannlein and Joseph Mannlein. 

To cherish his memory, Jerome, leaves his two sisters: Ann (Ken) Krupp of Phoenix, Arizona and Janet D. Goetz of Canton, Georgia; nieces and nephews:  William, Ian and Chad Mannlein, Martha Goetz, and Al (Cathy) Goetz.

A Graveside service and burial took place at noon on Friday; March 5, 2021 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Petersburg, Michigan.   Merkle Funeral Service, Dundee; 297 Tecumseh Street, Dundee, Michigan 48131 (734) 529-3156 has been entrusted with his care.
