Obituary of Lowell Earl Bouren
Lowell Earl Bouren was born in Clawson, Michigan on March 13, 1935. He was the second youngest of seven children born from the union of the late John Calvin Bouren and the late Minnie (Otis Wiley) Bouren. He attended Don Dero High School in Royal Oak but received his real education in the school of hard knocks.
Lowell was blessed with a strong work ethic and common sense, teaching himself many lifelong skills and always willing to share his knowledge with others. He was employed by General Motors at the Willow Run Plant for many years before taking an early retirement. Following this retirement, he stayed in the workforce, spending time with several manufacturing companies. He would retire from Hytrol in 2008.
Lowell’s life would be changed forever when he met a baby girl, Anne, at the Sixteen Mile Church in Macomb County. He fell in love with that baby girl and soon after became smitten by her mother, Kathy. The couple was joined in marriage on November 27, 1974, in Monroe, Michigan.
Lowell was a man of strong faith and unwavering Christian convictions. He was heavily involved in his church, Solid Rock Church of Monroe, and had a heart for missions. Lowell wasn’t one to enjoy the limelight, preferring to work behind the scenes. He was Kathy’s right-hand man, building visual aids (props) for both Princess Club and Sunday School, and helping with fundraiser events. Lowell was an avid scholar of the Bible, immersing himself in Jewish history. He loved teaching Sunday School, sharing his great love for God, and spreading the Gospel.
Lowell enjoyed serving his community, being a craftsman builder. Spending time with his grandchildren and taking care of Kathy and her birds were top priorities. He loved to be outdoors doing yard work and fishing.
Lowell Earl Bouren, age 85, of Monroe passed away on Wednesday; March 3, 2021 at Beaumont Hospital in Trenton. In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by five siblings: D. “Norman”, Allen, Faye, and Wiley Bouren, and a brother who passed as a child.
To cherish his memory he leaves his beloved wife of forty-five years: Kathy of Monroe; five children: Carolyn (Craig) McKenzie of Attica, Michigan, Donna (Marvin) Thompson of Macomb Township, Michigan, Anne (Justin) Rorie of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Benjamin (Beth) Bouren of Centerline, Michigan, and Jonathan Bouren (Alexandra Kushniruk) of Ukraine; one brother: Calvin Bouren of Florida; eleven grandchildren: Abigail, Eleanor, Talia; Ezekiel, Brandon, Christopher, Rebekah, Lowell, Jameson, Gabrielle, and Nadia; twenty great grandchildren: Eli, Wesley, Riley, Alexandra, Blake, Fayla, Cosette, Esmae, Everly, Elias, Ezra, Eleanor, Samuel, Liam, Violet, Beatrice, Faith, Caleb, Ethan, and Grace.
No public services are planned. Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 has been entrusted with his arrangements.
