Betty Jean Wyreman was born in Lynch, Kentucky on May 1, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Howard H. and Maudie Wyreman. She was raised by her adopted mother Ophie. The young family moved to Michigan in 1943. Betty was a graduate of Monroe High School. She was married to the love of her life Jon Wandt by Pastor Hitchins on January 10, 1959 in Monroe. From this union came the birth of seven children. Betty was a homemaker and lovingly raised the couple's children. She also worked from home selling Avon for more than twenty-five years. Betty loved spending time with her family and always looked forward to family get-togethers. She was especially fond of her many grandchildren. In her free time Betty enjoyed playing bingo, card, and dice games. Betty Jean Wandt age 74 of LaSalle passed away at 9:00am, Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at her home. Her loving family was at her side and she had been under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her adopted mother Ophie Wyreman; two sons: Paul and Dennis; a daughter: Ann; and one grandchild: Nathan; two brothers: Richard Wyreman and Howard Wyreman; three sisters: Mary Braden, Opal Hill, and Barbara Brown. To cherish her memory Betty leaves a husband of more than fifty-two years: Jon of LaSalle; three sons: Harold Wandt of Monroe, Dean (Tonya Moyer) Wandt of Monroe, Glen (Chris Krug) Wandt of Monroe; on daughter: Bonnie Wandt of LaSalle; three sisters: Nadia (Dan) Braden; Annabell McMullen, and Agnes "Totsie" McBain, one brother: Ezra Pete; eighteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; many beloved nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm, Friday, November 25, 2011 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 11:00am, Saturday, November 26, 2011 also at Merkle's with the Rev. Roy Southerland pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial. Memorial donations for those who desire are suggested to Karmanos Cancer Center.
