Obituary of Fannie Oley

Please share a memory of Fannie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Fannie Stella Brown was born in Willilamsburg, Kentucky on February 9, 1938. She was one of eight children, born to the late Camillus and Maggie (Bunch) Brown. While visiting family in the Detroit area, Fannie met the love of her life, George J. Oley. They were later married on September 9, 1960. Fannie would care for her family as a homemaker, raising the couple's four children. She was a simple, self-assured, loving southern belle. Family was the most important thing to her. Fannie loved to socialize and she was a friend to all. She never complained and was just simply grateful for what she had. She treated everyone the same and had an open door for all. Her love for others was even extended to her caretakers, as the nurses would comment about her kindness and sense of humor. Fannie loved the outdoors, whether observing nature or watching the boats come and go from Bolles Harbor. She also liked to play bingo whenever possible. But one of her favorite pastimes wa going out to eat, and Fino's was her favorite. Fannie Oley, age 75 of Monroe, passed away at 3:45pm, Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her husband: George; siblings: Baby Brown, Martin Brown, Lillian Jones, Earl "Pap" Brown, and Lee Brown; and a brother-in-law: Charles Stanfill. To cherish her memory she leaves a companion of twenty-three years: Charles Kamor; two sons: Barry Oley of Ypsilanti and Steven Oley of Grand Rapids; two daughters: Annie Farrand of Groton, Connecticut and Stella Oley of Newport; a sister: Helen Stanfill of Williamsburg, Kentucky; a sister-in-law: Evelyn Brown of Williamsburg, Kentucky; seven grandchildren: Joseph (Juliann) Farrand Jr., Sean (Ashley) Farrand, Scott (Acacia) Hogarth, Sydney Weisbecker, Madison Oley, Alivia Oley, and Courtney Miller; and five great-grandchildren.
