Betty Ann Brooks was born in Toledo on October 25, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Porter Brooks and Lillian (Wiseman) Brooks. Betty moved to the Monroe area at a young age later graduating from Monroe High School with the Class of 1946. She met the love of her life, Harold Clark and married him on September 9, 1950 in her parent's home. For more than ten years, Betty worked as a Key Puncher for the Toledo Area Rapid Transit Authority (TARTA). She happily gave up her career to stay home and raise the couple's three daughters. Betty was kind, loving, and generous always putting her family first, and supporting them in their endeavors. She was also skilled as a seamstress and had the ability to sew her girl's clothes. Later in life Betty cherished the time that she spent with grandchildren. Betty enjoyed entertaining her family during holidays. Betty was a self-proclaimed coupon queen for thirty years. She enjoyed challenging herself with crossword puzzles, loved mushroom hunting, canning, and gardening. Betty was an avid bird watcher and throughout the years she helped her daughter raise many litters of puppies. She had a passion for sax music, her favorite musician being Boots Randolph. Betty Ann Clark, age 84 of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her loving husband: Harold Clark on May 11, 2013; a brother in law: Herbert Waldecker; a sister in law: Loretta Brooks; her in-laws: Milton and Myrtle Clark; and a nephew: Roger Waldecker. To cherish her memory, she leaves three daughters: Darlene Clark, Pamela (Mark) Farnsworth, and Michelle (Richard Ferris) Blevins all of Monroe; a brother: Louis Brooks of Deltona, Florida; two brothers-in-law: Kenneth (Pam) Clark of Monroe and Gaylord (Lu) Clark of Payson, Arizona; a sister-in-law: Shirley Waldecker of Monroe; three grandchildren: Megan Farnsworth, Nicole Blevins, and Alexis Blevins; two nieces; and three nephews. Friends may gather from 12:00-2:00pm on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Wildwood Preserve Metropark of Toledo or The Arthritis Foundation.
