Obituary of Cheryl Teets

Cheryl Ann Hurley was born in Lima, Ohio on November 19, 1951. She was one of four children born to the union of the late Donald Hurley and the late Betty (Richardson) Hurley. Cheryl was a graduate of Wapakoneta Senior High School. She married the love of her life, Michael Teets on March 25, 1988 in Toledo, Ohio. Cheryl was fun and friendly. One couldn't mistake that for weakness, however, because she was also very headstrong and she wasn't afraid to speak her mind. Cheryl liked to stay busy. She enjoyed decorating, crafts, and her home was always adorned with multiple plants and flowers. Cheryl also never missed the opportunity to put up a holiday display. For many years Cheryl was employed as a rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. She worked from their Temperance office and was looking forward to retiring in January of 2014. Cheryl absolutely adored her grandchildren. She liked to take them shopping, play games with them, and visiting McDonald's was a favorite outing. Cheryl loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping with her family. An avid baker and cook, Cheryl looked forward to having more time to spend in the kitchen upon her looming retirement. Cheryl Ann Teets, age 61 of Erie, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her mother-in-law: Lois Teets. To cherish her memory Cheryl leaves her husband: Michael of Erie; two daughters; Christina Dunlap (Robert Peters) of Swanton, Ohio and Stacy Teets of Hueytown, Alabama; one son: Jason (Jacque) Teets of Bessemer, Alabama; three brothers: Donald (Cheryl) Hurley Jr. of Tennessee, John (Lorraine) Hurley of Spencerville, Ohio, and Dwight (Edna) Hurley of Stephens City, Virginia; her father-in-law: Ruben Teets of Cordele, Georgia; and eight grandchildren: Kyle, Kaitlyn, Lauren, Robert, Brett, Jacob, Amanda, and Lanie. Friends may gather from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street in Erie, Michigan (734) 848-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will follow at 7:00pm also at Merkle's with the Reverend Lewis Carlson of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Temperance officiating.
