Obituary of Caroline Polter

Caroline Polter, 94, of Dundee, passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was born in Toledo, Ohio June 3, 1922 the daughter of Louis and Marie (Heintz) Schweiger. She moved to Dundee as a young girl and graduated from Dundee High School in the class of 1940. She married Leon Polter May 3, 1942. Officiating was Rev. Fred Cesler, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church at that time. Sadly Leon passed away January 24, 2008. They were married for 66 years at the time of his passing. Together they operated Polter Farms. She is a member of the Dundee Senior Citizens Center, the Ladies Auxillary to the Dundee VFW Post and enjoyed spending time with her friends by visiting casinos as a way to get out and be with people. Her survivors include her sons and their wives: Gale (Susan) Polter of Dundee and Darrell (Linda) Polter of Blissfield; grandchildren Rodney (Kay) Polter and Ryan (Carole) Polter; great-grandchildren Justin, Alayna, Trevor, Michael and Matthew. Caroline was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a sister Dorothy Woodruff. Friends may call from 4 - 8 PM on Monday, September 5, 2016 at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156) She will lie in state Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 10 AM until services at 11 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, 460 Riley Street in Dundee. Officiating will be the Rev. Jennifer Kiefer, pastor of the church. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
