Obituary of Daryle Guy Schnurstein

Daryle Guy (Dar) Schnurstein, age 75, of Petersburg, Michigan, passed away at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor on Friday, January 29, 2016. He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan December 30, 1940 the son of Guy Alpheus Schnurstein and Beulah Eldora Roehm. Dar graduated from Milan High School and then joined the US Air Force. He served from April 19, 1960 until April 23, 1964. He married the former Vanessa Marie Welch on August 24, 1968 at St. Irene Catholic Church in Dundee. He completed the Detroit Tooling Association Tool & Die Maker Apprenticeship in 1969 while working for Republic Tool & Die Company, then went to work for the Chrysler Trenton Engine Plant from where he retired in 2005. He completed the USAF Leadership Management Course, graduated from the USAF driver training course, the USAF motorized equipment mechanic course, the USAF jet aircraft mechanic course, graduated from the Livonia Motech Education Center in small engine repair, is a member of the Chrysler Local UAW, and farmed for many years in Dundee. Dar enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping and canoeing, playing euchre and going up north. He is survived by his wife Vanessa; son Ted (Nancy) Schnurstein of Petersburg and daughter Trina Baker of Dundee; grandchildren: Mary (Nick) Stamper, Miranda (Dustin) Dayvolt, Mariah Schnurstein, Janis Wright, Rachel Wright, Trevor (Cassi) Busenbark and DJ (Sara) Busenbark: five great-grandchildren; brothers Bruce (Shirley) Schnurstein and Harvey (Randi) Schnurstein both of Brighton; sister Lana Cox of Brighton. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 – 8 PM at Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-31560. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, February 5, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment with military honors by the Dundee Veterans Group will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Dundee.
