Phyllis Ann Gabbert August 30, 1944 - July 18, 2013 Phyllis Ann Meyers was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky on August 30, 1944. She was the only child born from the union of the late Marvin B. Meyers and the late Helen (Sharp) Meyers. She married Richard S. Steinman Sr. on June 27, 1962. She later married the love of her life Nelson F. Gabbert on June 11, 1983. Phyllis was a woman of many hats. She obtained her real estate license working for Scott Hudkins, Haynes Realty, and First Realty. She also was employed by Dr. Craig, Credit Bureau, and Sears, but for more than fifteen years, Phyllis worked as a waitress for Nortel Lanes, and from 1973 until 1983, as the Head Dietician for Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe. Phyllis was the rock of her family. She was strong-willed, intelligent, and well-loved. She could always be counted on in times of need, and had a servant's heart, and giving nature. Phyllis was a loving mother, single handedly raising her four children. Later in life she continued to support her children and nurture her grandchildren and great grandchildren by "babysitting'. Phyllis enjoyed cooking and entertaining for holiday get-togethers. She enjoyed traveling the country with Nelson, gambling and playing double down. Phyllis was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Ladies Auxiliary in Newport. Phyllis Ann Gabbert, age 68 of Monroe passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at home.
