Obituary of CoraBelle L. Hehl

CoraBelle L. (Corkey) Hehl, age 88 of Dundee, passed away Sunday evening, August 4, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family and hospice. She was born in Detroit, Michigan August 14, 1924 the daughter of Jules and Mary (DeNorma) Crombez. She married Vernon L. Hehl August 25, 1942 at the East Ida Church. Officiating was the Rev. Arnold Kluge. She was raised in Dundee and graduated from Dundee High School in 1942. She was a lifelong homemaker; loved sewing, baking; spending time with family and friends at Wampler’s Lake; was a member of St. John Lutheran Church; especially loved being with all her children and grandchildren; was a Sunday school teacher for 22 years; worked in the kitchen for VBS for many years; stewardship on the Women’s Board; packed boxes for Lutheran World Relief; was chairman of the Raffle at Bazarre; visited sick and shut ins; helped with church banquets and Senior dinners; helped feed meals at Holiday Children’s Camp; helped with mailing St. John Chimes Newsletters every month; was a Campfire Leader; and also taught Catechism to the handicapped. Corkey’s survivors include her husband Vernon; daughters Roxanne (Charles)(Bink) Bolls of Ida; Sherry (Alvin) Strack of Tecumseh; Jene’ (Patrick) Funk of Dundee and Lori Lan also of Dundee; grandchildren Christina Gans, Kandi Jurek, Patrick May, Kelly May, Heidi Bellaire, Corey Goethe, Sara Buhl, Ryanne Woern, Ashley King, Joseph Funk; step-grandchildren Christopher Strack, Ronald Strack, Scott Strack; also 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Rene and George Crombez and a grandson Chuckie Bolls. Friends may call on Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 10 AM until memorial services at 11 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee. Officiating is Jim Puhl, L.M. of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and speaker Rev. Gerald Elsholz, retired pastor and close family friend. In accordance with her wishes cremation has been held.
