Obituary of Myrtle Madej

Please share a memory of Myrtle to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Myrtle Mae Worley was born in Wichita, Kansas on May 20, 1930. She was one of three children born from the union of the late James Worley and the late Zoel (Cummings) Worley. At the age of 14, Myrtle's family moved to Carleton, Michigan from Kansas. Myrtle married Stanley Madej on March 23, 1962 in Carleton. She would help her husband and children as a homemaker and raise the couple's eight children. Myrtle could be very feisty. She was straight forward, and had the uncanny ability to touch people's hearts. Myrtle was very charismatic and she was an awesome mentor to those around her. She was an excellent cook and her pigs in a blanket were a favorite for all her diners. Myrtle enjoyed classic television watching including TV land and loved the Walton's. Amazingly enough she also enjoyed scary movies. In her free time she liked to crochet and enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls, amassing a nearly 180. She was extremely fond of her children and grandchildren, and had a special place in her heart for her four legged friends including her Pomeranian dog, Swiper. The past few years she had made her home with daughter: Rose and granddaughter: Danielle. Myrtle Mae Madej age 83 of Monroe passed away at 9:30am on Monday, July 15, 2013 in the emergency room of St. John Hospital in Detroit. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her husband: Stanley in 1977; an infant son: Richard Talley; one brother: James Worley Jr.; and one sister: Eva Kecskes. To cherish her memory she leaves four daughters: Rose Madej (Craig Bagley), Tina (Bill) Murray, Judy Alvin, Zoeann Talley, four sons: Jim Talley, John (Sharon) Talley, Stanley Madej Jr., and Andrew (Judy) Madej; ten grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. Friends may gather from 1:00pm until 4:00pm on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will follow at 4:00pm with the Rev.
