Obituary of Don Waterstradt

Don Waterstradt, age 73, a lifelong resident of Dundee, passed away 11:30 P.M., Monday, March 10, 2013 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born at the family home on Monroe Street in Dundee on January 3, 1940, the son of Ernest C. and Alice L. (Barr) Waterstradt. He married Gay Wilson April 15, 1965 in Dundee. Don graduated from Dundee High School in 1958. He worked for the family at Westside Fuel until they became the owners of Waterstradt Brothers Marathon in Dundee. He retired in 2004. He was a member of the Dundee Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years and retired in 2001. He loved camping and travelling to see their children in Colorado and California, cruises and visits to Las Vegas. He especially loved spending time at the family cottage at Sand Lake. He started going there when he was only 2 years old. He is survived by his wife Gay; sons Steven Barr (Beth) Waterstradt of Saline and Shane D. (Marianne) Waterstradt of Sacramento, CA; daughters Shari (Dave) Scheuermann of Dillon, Colorado and Staci (Nick) Bashaw of Petersburg; siblings Jo Pentercs and Ted (Pat) Waterstradt both of Dundee; grandchildren Brittany Waterstradt, Brianna Waterstradt, Dave Scheuermann Jr, Boston Bashaw, Brooklyn Bashaw and Ella Seheuermann; brother in law Lonny O’Lone of Dundee; also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Kay O’Lone. Friends may call from 3 PM until a 4 PM memorial service on Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Peoples Presbyterian Church, 210 Smith Street in Milan. Officiating will be Rev. Kelly Boubel Schriver, the church pastor. In accordance with his wishes cremation has been held. Arrangements are being conducted by the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee. A gathering will be held immediately following the church services at the Dundee Veterans Memorial Building, Dunham at McBride Streets in Dundee.
