Obituary of Richard Sharpe Goode

Richard Wayne Sharpe-Good was born in Monroe on September 17, 1963. He was one of nine children born from the union of William Sharpe and Ruthann (Ivey) Evans. Richard was skilled with his hands and not afraid of hard work. For more than fifteen years, he was employed as a Construction Laborer for Monroe Labors Union 347. Richard had a passion for life. He was fun, energetic, extremely outgoing, a very caring individual he had a heart of gold. Richard would do anything for anyone, even give the shirt of his back to a stranger. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to go on long walks. Richard was an extremely social person cherishing time he spent alongside his family and friends, and Summer parties. He enjoyed singing and listening to Rock-n-Roll classics and of course loved to tip back a cold drink from time to time. Richard often played the Acee Ducee card game. He was a proud father and he was especially fond of his twelve grandbabies. In his free time, Richard enjoyed Native American crafting. Richard, age 49 of Monroe passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. In addition to his grandparents his passing was preceded by his nephew Robert Church and grandson Caleb Williams. To cherish his memory he leaves two daughters: Christian Goode of LaSalle and Ashley (Donald McMullen) Sharpe of Ann Arbor; three sons: Justin Covert of Flint, Richard Jack (Caitlin)Sharpe Jr. of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Joshua (Tiffany Scott) Sharpe of Monroe; seven sisters: Navalla (David Rice) Johnson, Joyce Goode, Dawn Goode, and Reaha Church all of Monroe, Bardia Sharpe (George Harris) of Texas, Geraldine Williamson of Jackson, Michigan, and Nicole Sharp of Florida; one brother: Edward (Dana) Sharpe of Monroe; and twelve grandchildren: Timothy, Patrick, Thomas Warthen, Jerika Coleman, Casey Williams, Delanee McMullen, Caden Sharpe, Olivia Covert, Donald Edward McMullen Jr., Madeline Sharpe, Ryker Sharpe, and Ellie "Jelly Belly" Sharpe. Friends may gather from 5:30pm until 7:00pm on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will be at 7:00pm also at Merkle's with the Reverand Jack Henegar officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
