Shawn Michael Medley August 7, 1967 - July 10, 2013 Shawn Michael Medley was born in Monroe, Michigan on August 7, 1967. He was the son of Mildred "Millie" (Carpentier) Medley and the late James Medley. Shawn graduated from Monroe High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Siena Heights. Shawn was joined in marriage to Tracy (Courter) Meeks on June 19, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church. He worked as a Civil Engineer performing CAD Design. Shawn was proud to have worked locally for Mannik & Smith and Poggemeyer Design group. His true passion in life was sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. A lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, he graduated from the church's school. He loved to read and do research and the Bible was something he studied regularly. As an adult he served on Church Council as Vice President of Evangelism, Elder, Lector, worked on the Braille bible program and on the Malotky Mission fund. Shawn taught Sunday School and did jail ministry for many years. Shawn had a vast array of interests. He enjoyed sports and was a talented artist. He had a great sense of humor and an ability to connect with others. He was loved by all who had the privilege to know him. He was especially close to his step children. Shawn passed away at age 45 unexpectedly from this earthly life to receive his Heavenly reward on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father. To cherish his memory he leaves a loving wife Tracy Medley of Monroe; his mother, Mildred Medley of Monroe; three step-children: Jacob Courter of Chicago, Rodney Meeks of Irvine, CA, and Bethani Meeks of Monroe; three sisters: his twin sister Sherrie Medley, Susan (Roger) Casteel of Monroe and Karen (Carl) Williams of Monroe, two half-brothers; Scott Medley of Gainesville, Florida and James "Pepper" Medley of Fort Myers, Florida and one half-sister, Ginger Camenisch of Lexington, Kentucky. He had four nephews; Matthew Johnson (Jill Gebbert), Richard "James" Roussin, Josh and Chris Williams, two great nephews and one great niece. Cremation has taken place. Friends may gather starting at 10:00am for a memorial service at 11:00am on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 323 Scott Street. A luncheon will follow for a celebration of life. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street has been entrusted with his arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to assist with expenses.
