Obituary of Jennie Gossiaux

Please share a memory of Jennie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jennie Anady- was born on September 21, 1919, in Portage, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Anady and the late Elizabeth (Yuhaz) Anady. She attended Beard Elementary and Woodrow Wilson High School in Detroit. She left school in the eleventh grade to help take of her younger siblings after her father became ill. Jennie married the love of her life: Anthony "Tony" Gossiaux in Detroit on June 13 1943. From this union came the birth of a son: Raymond. The family made their home in Detroit until the construction of I-75, moving to Dearborn Heights where they would receive their spiritual nourishment at St. Linas. Jennie first and foremost was a homemaker for her husband and son. For many years she worked wallpapering some of the large Detroit mansions. Jennie also supported the war effort as a riveter at GM's Fleetwood Plant, and played baseball for the plant team. Jennie loved decorating and often gave ceramic Christmas trees she made as gifts. She was a great cook known for her sheet cookies and Stuffed Cabbage. Jennie was independent, strong willed, and a bit feisty. She didn't learn to drive until she was in her 60's and once tore down a wall in her home to redecorate. Later in life she cherished the time she spent making silly faces and playing puppets with her great grandsons. Jennie Irene Gossiaux age 93 passed away Saturday morning June 29, 2013 while a resident of the Lutheran Home. She had been under the loving care of Promedica Hospice. In addition to her parents and her husband in 1982 her passing was preceded by nine siblings. To cherish her memory she leaves a son: Raymond (Sue) Gossiaux; two grandsons: Andrew (Simone Cossette) of Dundee and Tim (Jamie) Gossiaux of Monroe; one sister: Margaret Johnson of Garden City; and two great grandchildren: Chandler Gossiaux and Calloway Gossiaux. Friends may gather at 11:00am, Wednesday, July 3, 2013 for a graveside service at the Chapel at Woodmere Cemetery, 9400 West Fort Street in Detroit, Michigan. Burial will follow at the cemetery.
