Obituary of Norma Lee Sunday

Services have been set for N. Lee Sunday, 69 of LaSalle who died early morning August 31, 2013 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. Friends may call on Tuesday September 3, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). The service will be held at 1 p.m. with gravesite burial at Maple Grove Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Born April 1, 1944 in Monroe Michigan, she was the daughter of Donald W. Sunday and Norma (Schultz) Sunday of Dundee Michigan. A 1962 graduate of Dundee High School was followed by Bachelors in Education from Eastern Michigan University, Associates Degree in Nursing from Henry Ford Community College and an Associates Degree in American Sign Language from Madonna Community College. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She taught physical education in public school until she began her career as a registered nurse in emergency nursing at Outer Drive Hospital in Lincoln Park Michigan to Heritage Hospital and Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe. She ended her working career in the field of home care and became nursing officer of Medilodge long term care facility in Monroe. She had a love for senior citizens and was a strong supporter of their rights. She enjoyed learning and sharing the history of family’s that she met. She preferred a quiet life with her pets. She enjoyed gardening spending time with her animals. She was a staunch advocate for animals and would nurse many lost and founds back to health. She once owned a market in Ida Michigan and named the business Sheps Market after a love for her animal companion. Surviving her is Sharon Marienfeld of LaSalle Michigan, a friend for thirty seven years, and five nieces and nephews and seven great nieces and nephews and three great –great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald W. Sunday and Norma A. Sunday and her sister, Shirley (Sunday) Dermanelian. Online condolences may be made at www.coverfuneralhome.com
