Obituary of Michael F. Symon

Michael F. Symon, age 61 of Dundee, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 at his home. He was born in Port Huron, Michigan May 5, 1952, the son of Donald and Rosemary (Mehler) Symon.. He grew up in Port Huron and graduated from Port Huron Catholic School in 1970. He married Shirley Layton March 8, 1971 in Port Huron. He retired from the Ford Motor Company Woodhaven Stamping Plant in August 2013. He had worked there 12 years and prior to that worked at the Flat Rock Mazda Plant for 15 years. He loved tinkering with cars and sports. He and his wife also own a ceramic business together. He also loved creating stained glass artwork. Mike’s survivors include his wife; son Donald of Dundee; daughter Cheri Stevens of Dundee; granddaughter Samantha Stevens; brother Mark F. (Patricia) Symon of Kimball, Michigan; sisters Pamela S. (Del) Winchester of Port Huron, Jacqueline (Gene) Moore of Roscommon, and Patricia (Kevin) Kilbourne of Port Huron. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Cynthia Darlene Symon in 1997. Friends may call on Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 1 – 8 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday at 11:00 A.M. Officiating will be Rev. Jeff Cardimen, pastor to the Dundee Church of the Nazarene. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Dundee.
