Rita Marie Thompson, age 79, of Petersburg, Michigan passed away at 6:12 A.M., Saturday August 10, 2013 at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. She was born at Adrian, Michigan October 17, 1933, the daughter of Ervin and Dorothy (VanDeVenter) Lindhorst. She graduated from Dundee High School in 1951. She had worked for Yeck Manufacturing Company in Dundee for 27 years as the office manager. She then worked for Ladapa Tool and Die in Dundee and also at Sears in Monroe. She loved visiting with friends and spending time with her grandchildren. She married James B. Thompson at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church. Rita is survived by her husband; sons Blake (Annette) Gill of Oldsmar, Florida and Brad (Val) Gill of Toledo; stepdaughters Jean Brown of Houghton Lake, Teresa Sheroian of Toledo and Linda Thompson of Virginia; three grandchildren, seven step grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; also sister Gloria Mannlein of Dundee. She was preceded in death by her parents and a stepson Ronald Thompson. Friends may call on Wednesday from 1-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the funeral home. Officiating will be the Rev. Harvey “Oke” Maerten.
