Obituary of Rose M. Banks

Rose Marie “Rosie” Banks, 77, was reunited in death with her long-time companion, Arnie Missler, on March 17, 2016. As the oldest of six (and the only girl), Rosie knew what it meant to take charge. She did so with gusto and lived a very full life. She was born on February 20, 1939 in Adrian, MI, to Harold and Helen (Craig) Smith. She attended Flower Hospital, earning her nursing diploma in 1960. Rosie was a passionate and dedicated nurse. After retiring from Herrick Memorial Hospital, she continued working as an occupational nurse at Visteon/Ford, Sheldon Road. Rosie was also an avid pilot, competing with Hazel Jacobs in many small plane air races. She is survived by her children, Timothy (Michelle) Banks of Murfreesboro, TN, Elizabeth Dart of Las Vegas, NV, Susan (Kenneth) Emery of Dundee, MI, and Mark (Leah) Banks of Monroe, MI; as well as 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also mourning her loss are her four brothers, James (Lois) Smith, Forrest (Faye) Smith, both of Wauseon, OH, Harold (Kathy) Smith Jr., Liberty Center, OH, and Thomas Smith, Las Cruses, NM. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother David, and former spouse Roy Banks. Friends may call on Friday, March 25, from 2pm to 8pm at Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). Pastor Andy Baek and retired Pastor Douglas will co-officiate the funeral services at Dundee United Methodist Church, 645 Franklin St, on Saturday, March 26, at 11:00am. A fellowship luncheon will follow. Memorials in her name can be made to the Greater Michigan Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association or Dundee United Methodist Church.
