Harold Melvin Clark was born in Taylor, Michigan on July 5, 1928. He was the son of the late Milton Clark and Myrtle (Freese) Clark, and he attended Taylor Center School. Harold married the love of his life the former, Betty Brooks on September 9, 1950, and from this union would come the birth of three daughters. From 1952 until 1954, Harold served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army. Harold was employed at the Trenton Engine Plant for the Chrysler Corporation for thirty-five years. He retired as a welder in 1990. He also farmed with his father and brother on the family farm near Maybee until the mid-90's. After his retirement from Chrysler, Harold worked in his brother Kenneth's fabrication shop, K and J Fabrication retiring just a few months ago. Although, Harold had little formal education he had a natural ability handed down from his father when it came to working with his hands. He was intelligent and skilled and worked well with precision drilling, welding, and mechanical calculations. Harold was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching football and baseball games and had a passion for drag racing. For many years he served as the pit crew for his brother's drag racing team. Harold also built pulling tractors for Hoppert Farms. Harold Melvin Clark, age 84 of Monroe passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at IHM Healthcare Center. In addition to his parents, his passing was preceded by a brother-in-law: Herbert Waldecker and a nephew: Roger Waldecker. To cherish his memory he leaves a loving wife of more than sixty-two years: Betty Clark of Monroe; three daughters: Darlene Clark, Pamela (Mark) Farnsworth, and Michelle Blevins (Richard Ferris) all of Monroe; one sister: Shirley Waldecker of Monroe; two brothers: Kenneth (Pam) Clark of Monroe and Gaylord (Lu) Clark of Payson, Arizona; three grandchildren: Megan Farnsworth, Nicole Blevins, and Alexis Blevins; and two nieces and three nephews. Private services have been held and cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185.
