Obituary of Barbara Lynette Richards

Barbara Lynette Richards was born in Monroe, Michigan on September 4, 1963.   She was the daughter of the late Willie Richards and the late Katie Mae Dafney.   Barbara attended Monroe High School and graduated with the Class of 1982.   She later attended college courses to further her education.

For many years, Barbara, worked in the restaurant industry as a cook.   She loved to interact with others and especially enjoyed the opportunity to prepare meals.   To the delight of her family she brought her cooking skills home with her and was always up for entertaining.  

Barbara enjoyed listening to music of all kinds.   She was the ultimate cheerleader always encouraging those around her to do their best, and of course she encouraged good behavior, as well.   Her favorite pastime was playing her hand at Cashwords scratch off lottery tickets, never discarding a single one.  In her free time, Barbara also enjoyed knitting bears.  

Barbara Lynette Richards, age 55, of Monroe passed away at home on Friday, October 5, 2018.   She had been under the care of ProMedica Monroe Hospice.   Her passing is preceded by her sister: Shirley Richards, her brother in law: Mark Miller, her father, her mother and her nephew Ronnell. Also, on Friday afternoon, her sister Mary Richards passed away.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    

To cherish her memory, she leaves a daughter:  Shalica Richards (Christina Boudrie); a son:  Terrance Richards; four sisters:  Alice Richards, Gloria Richards, LeAnn Richards and Joyce Miller; one brother:  Willie A. Richards; one granddaughter:  Kamesha Richards; and many extended family members and friends.

Friends may gather to commemorate the lives of Barbara and Mary Richards from 2:00pm until 4:00pm on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185.   A Homegoing Celebration of their lives will follow at 4:00pm also at Merkle’s with Pastor Jack Branham and Reverend Lito Mendez of Monroe Gospel Church officiating.
