David Wayne Reece March 29, 1964 - April 11, 2013 David Wayne Reece was born in Monroe, Michigan on March 29, 1964. He was the son of the late Drewry Reece and Patricia (Call) Reece. David attended Monroe Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1982. For several years, David worked in the Maintenance Department for the City of Monroe, but unfortunately had to take a medical disability in 1998. For more than twenty-eight years he made his home with Mary Bray, together raising their four children. David was an avid coin collector. He enjoyed attending Flea Markets and picking up numerous types of treasures and trinkets. He had a great sense of humor, and was always a joy to be around due to his happy disposition. David was well-liked and funny. He had a giving spirit and for many years volunteered his time for the annual St. Michael We-Care Telethon here in Monroe. David was also a die-hard NASCAR fan. His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt Sr. and later after his untimely death he avidly followed Jr. David Wayne Reece age 49 a lifelong Monroe resident passed away at 5:30pm, Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Mercy Memorial Nursing Center. In addition to his father his passing was preceded by a son-in-law: Ed Stollberg in 2013; and a brother: Jodi Reece. To cherish his memory he leaves his mother: Patricia McMurry of Dundee, his significant other: Mary Bray of Monroe; a son: David Reece Jr. of Monroe; three step children whom he raised as his own: Christa Stollberg and Justin Bray both of Kentucky, and Billie (Sherie) Bray of Monroe; two brothers: John Reece of Tawas, Michigan and Alan "Jeff" Reece of Dundee; four sisters: Connie Watson of Monroe, Joan (Ron) Earls of Petersburg, Jessica Reece of California, and Rhonda Burt of Newport; six grandchildren: Tyler and Alyssa Stollberg, Justin Bray Jr., Anthony Reece, and Miles and Lillie Bray; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 7:00pm, Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 7:00pm with Reverend Kenneth Spain, Associate Pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Cremation rites will follow. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Reece Family.
