Paul Allen "Bub" Thompson January 25, 1985 - March 15, 2013 Paul Allen "Bub" Thompson was born in Monroe, Michigan on January 25, 1985. He was the son of Paul Edward Thompson and Jamie Ellen Schnelling. Paul attended Trenton High School for one year before graduating from Monroe High School in 2004. He was a brilliant young man and made the Dean's list while attending Central Michigan University studying mathematics and physical education. Paul enlisted in the United States Marine Corps working as a heavy equipment operator and served honorably from May 2007 until October 2011. Bub was an all-American boy and loved to play football and basketball and to watch sports. He loved listening to country music and rock and roll. Bub loved watching movies, and he enjoyed playing video games. He was well known for his sense of humor and his practical jokes. Bub was always a joy to be around. He was extremely giving and loyal and had a great big heart, he never met a stranger. Paul seemed to love everything and everybody. Paul Allen "Bub" Thompson, age 28, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013. His passing was preceded by three uncles: Timothy Higgins, Joe Farley, and Daniel Higgins; grandparents: Paul and Thelma Grace Thompson, Richard and Barbara Higgins; and a sister: Jamie Lynn Thompson. To cherish his memory he leaves his aunt (Nana): Sybel Higgins; siblings: Heather J. Higgins (Jason) Yoas, Shelly Conley, Craig Conley, and Gary (Maria) Conley; a cousin whom he thought of as a brother: Joe (Samantha) Hibbs; dear cousin Jackie Warner; aunts and uncles: Pam and Gary Conley adoptive parents whom he made his home for seven years in West Virginia, Trina and Terry Hibbs, Kellie and John Brancheau, Pat and Penny Higgins, and Diana Farley and Stan Caldwell. Friends may gather from 4:00-8:00pm, Wednesday, March 20 and from 2:00-8:00pm, Thursday, March 21 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 also at Merkle's with Rev. Jeffrey Heimsoth officiating. Procession will follow to Ash Cemetery for burial where graveside services will be under the auspices of Monroe VFW Post 1138.
