Obituary of Jack Revels

Please share a memory of Jack to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jack Lee Revels was born in Monroe, Michigan on June 19, 1937. He was the son of the late Clarence H. Revels and the late Mabel (Ballard) Revels. Jack attended Jefferson Schools before graduating from Monroe High School. He was employed by the Ford Motor Company, Monroe Stamping Plant for more than forty-six years, retiring in 2003. Jack earned his journeyman card, working as a pipefitter leader and served on the Fire Brigade. He was a man of many talents but his true love was that of farming, a hobby that he started at the age of 15. Jack married the former Shirley Atkinson on October 5, 1957. He led his family by example with strong Christian values and dedication to hard work, including reading his Bible every day. Jack began attending Monroe Missionary Baptist Church in 1960, and would serve the congregation as Treasurer, Deacon, Trustee, and as a Royal Ambassador leader. Jack was a man of great wisdom and integrity. He never met a stranger and enjoyed sharing his time and talents with others. Jack loved spending time with family, whether they were performing home improvement projects or camping with the travel trailers. He was also recognized by the Red Cross for his frequent gift of blood. Jack, age 75 of Monroe, entered eternal glory through faith in his Lord Jesus Christ, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 while a patient of University Hospitals in Ann Arbor. To cherish his memory, Jack leaves his beloved wife of fifty-five years: Shirley; children: Debbie (Bob) Fahndrich of Fenton, Donna (Audie "Russ") Bates, Darlene (Mark) Brittain, and David Lee (Jennifer) Revels all of Monroe; two brothers: Clarence S. (Polly) Revels and Roy (Brenda) Revels both of Monroe; mother-in-law: Viola Atkinson of Monroe; sisters-in-law: Joyce (Dennis) Souva of Monroe and Dolores Miller of Monroe; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of "adopted" family and friends. Friends may gather from 1:00-8:00pm, Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734) 384-5185. He will lie in state from 10:00am until A Celebration of His Life at 11:00am, Monday, January 14 at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, 14260 South Dixie. Procession will follow to Roselawn.
