Obituary of Eric Span

Eric Lamont Span was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 2, 1977. He was the son of Dave Pierson and Glory (Span) Holloway. Eric had a passion to cook and attended a culinary course. He was an avid sports fan, especially baseball where he earned several trophies. Eric also enjoyed swimming and watching football and basketball. Eric liked listening to music, particularly rap: Jay-Z, 2 Chains, and TI. He loved to dance and was one to cut up and learn all the new moves. He was a comedian and fun to be around. Eric's faith was in the "Higher Power" and had a positive outlook on life, always having something good to say about others. He loved his mom and dad, always checking on them and held a special place in his heart for his auntie. Eric was the highlight and strength of his family. His presence will be greatly missed by many. Eric Lamont Span age 35 of Chicago passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. His passing was preceded by his brother Eric Lamont Span as an infant. To cherish his memory he leaves his parents; his stepfather: Joseph Holloway; four sons: Eric Span of Indiana and Devon Span of Indiana, Kentrell of Indiana and Daquan of Texas; three brothers: Joseph, Shawn , and Tommy of Detroit; two aunts: Lolita (Gary) Cooper of Monroe, and Laverne (Steven) Ward of Illinois; three uncles: Frederick Span of Monroe, Michael Span of Chicago, and Derick Span of Chicago; maternal grandparents: Lillie Span and Freddie (Mary) Span; paternal grandparents: Steve and Marlene Gaston; several cousins: Steven Ward, Nicholas Ward, Christopher Ward, Lolita "Misha", Gary "Jr", "Lil Frederick" , Heavyn, Patrick, Gary "Jr Jr", Gavon , Lynne, Kaylynn and Mariah; and a host of great aunties and cousins. Friends may gather from 12:00 to 3:00pm, Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 N Monroe Street (734) 384-5185.
