Richard "Dick" Harold Beddoes January 25, 1927 - January 3, 2012 Richard Harold Beddoes was born in Dearborn, Michigan on January 25, 1927. He was the son of the late William Beddoes and the late Inez (Allen) Beddoes. Dick attended Dearborn High School and at the age of seventeen enlisted in the United States Navy. He married the love of his life, the former Ann Mary Raible on July 22, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan. From this union came the birth of six children. Dick supported his family as a head custodian for the Dearborn Heights School District 7 for over twenty-nine years. He truly loved the opportunity this provided to interact with the children on a daily basis. Dick was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved traveling and took his grandchildren with him as much as possible. He was an excellent marksman and placed well in many firearms competitions. Dick also was an avid deer hunter. Dick hobbies included golf with his brother and snowmobiling. Dick was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and of the Harrison's Sportsman Club. Dick was a fourth degree member of Knights of Columbus. Richard "Dick" Harold Beddoes age 85 of Carleton passed away at his home on Thursday, January 3, 2013. In addition to his parents, his passing was preceded by two brothers: William Beddoes and Martin Beddoes; and a son-in-law: Jack Ferguson. To cherish his memory he leaves a beloved wife: Ann Beddoes of Carleton; five daughters: Katherine (Mike) Cox of Illinois, Theresa (Eli) Radu of Monroe, Christine Beddoes of Florida, Ann Marie Albrecht of Rochester Hills, and Trish Ferguson of Arizona; one son: Rick (Carrie) Beddoes of Lima, Ohio; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Friends may gather from 2:00-9:00pm, Monday, January 7, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734) 384-5185. Member of Monroe VFW Post 1138 will present veterans honors at 7:00pm and a Rosary led by The Knights of Columbus Council 1266 will follow. He will lie in state from 9:00am until the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00am, Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2966 West Labo Road. Father John Dumas pastor of the church will officiate. Memorial donations are suggested to Paralyzed Veterans of America.
