Robertus Gail Bartlett was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 18, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Augustine and the late Florence (Woods) Augustine. Gail married William Bartlett in Long Beach, California in 1963. From this union came the birth of four children. Gail treasured her family very much and she proudly served as a homemaker taking on the important responsibility of raising their children when they were young. Gail found the value in keeping up on current events. She loved to watch old movies. Gail favored a wide variety of musical interests such as Jerry Vale, Michael Buble and Rod Stewart. She was an excellent cook, and her family always looked forward to her creations. Gail also enjoyed the outdoors; she loved to garden and care for her many house plants. She loved wildlife and her favorite bird was the cardinal. Robertus Gail Bartlett, age 74 of Monroe, passed away at 9:40pm on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. She was under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her beloved husband: William, two sisters: Hazel Taylor, and Virginia Vogt, and two brothers: Harold and Dale Augustine; sister in-law: Helen Augustine; three brothers- in-law: Charles Taylor, Orville Kuntz and Gene Simon. To cherish her memory she leaves behind two daughters: Sharon (Joseph) Coates of Carson City, Nevada and Virginia (Patrick) Bane of Petersburg; two sons: Steven Earl (Nancy) Bartlett of Petersburg and Matthew (Heather) Bartlett of Glendora California; two sisters: Jeanette Simon and Lee Kuntz of St. Louis, Missouri; ten grandchildren: Patrick (Lindsay) Bane, Kristin (Rob) Williams, Joshua Earl Bane, Cole Bartlett, Jesslyn Coates, Connor and Emma Bartlett, Tara (Ed) Crothers, Tommy (Tara) Deloach, and Abby Deloach; and ten great-grandchildren: Hanna and Alexander Bane, Abigail and Olivia Williams, Ryan and Collin Deloach, Julian Hensley, Brandon Bradley and Anthony Brumbaugh. Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 has been entrusted with her arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
