Obituary of Gary Otter

Gary Lowell Otter was born on October 24, 1963 in Monroe, Michigan. He was the son of the late Olin Lowell Otter and Bonnie L. (Westlake) Otter. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Waltz. Gary was a 1983 graduate of Airport Community Schools. On September 17, 1994, Gary married the love of his life the former Cindy (Adams) Mosher. The young family made their home in Monroe. For more than twenty-one years Gary worked to support his family as a custodian and maintenance person for Airport Schools where he was a member of the union. He took a medical leave in 2011. Gary loved the outdoors and he enjoyed visiting Up North. Many hours were spent at the family cabin in Harrison where he liked to bow and rifle hunt. Gary also enjoyed riding four wheelers. He was a member of the Monroe Moose Lodge 884. Gary loved to shoot pool and enjoyed a cold beer from time to time with the Moose 'old timers". Gary loved to surf the internet and visit Craig's List selling, buying, and trading four-wheelers and quads. Gary Lowell Otter age 49 of Monroe passed away at 3:24pm; Monday, November 19, 2012 at Mercy Memorial Hospital where he had been under the care of Mercy Hospice. In addition to his father: Olin his passing was preceded by his mother and father-in-law: Elma and Gordon Adams. To cherish his memory he leaves a beloved wife: Cindy of Monroe; son: Matthew S. Mosher of Monroe; his mother: Bonnie L. Otter of Carleton; brother: Henry (Kim) Otter of Flat Rock; niece: Tonya Otter of Bellevlle; nephew: Joshua Otter of Flat Rock; many friends and a best friend: Mark (Michelle) Adrian of Alabama; a beloved cat: Boo; his aunt and uncle Lucy and Mel Otter of Carleton; and cousin: Norman Otter of Brownstown. Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00pm, Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. Friends may also gather from 9:00-1:00pm, Friday, November 23, 2012. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 1:00pm also at Merkle's. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park for burial.
