Obituary of Carol Ann Holt
Carol Ann Heath was born in Monroe, Michigan on July 10, 1940. She was one of five children born from the union of the late Louis Heath and the late Leola (Sievert) Heath. She attended Monroe Public Schools and following graduation continued her education by completing a year of business college.
Carol married Leonard Holt and from this union came the birth of sons: Kevin and Kenneth. She cared for the needs of her family as homemaker. Carol received her spiritual nourishment as a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
For many years, Carol was employed in real estate. She was strong-willed, independent, and loved to serve others. With a caregiver’s heart, and following her true passion, Carol became an active volunteer tirelessly giving back to her community. Her involvement included local groups such as: Child Advocacy, local senior citizens where she also participated in senior games, Relay for Life and Cancer Connection. Her work earned her many appreciation awards for volunteer participation.
Carol loved to take long daily walks often traveling six to eight miles. She enjoyed riding on the back of motorcycles as well. She could often be seen wearing her favorite color pink wherever she went.
Carol Ann Holt, age 76, of Monroe passed away at 3:26pm on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Heartland of Waterville in Ohio. In addition to her parents, Carol’s passing was preceded by her son: Kevin Holt; two brothers: Howard and Kenneth Heath; and a brother-in-law: Roy Rueter.
To cherish her memory, Carol leaves a beloved son: Kenneth Holt of Monroe; two sisters: Marilyn (Tom) Andrulonis of Dubois, Pennsylvania and Virginia (Rueter) of Eugene, Oklahoma; her former husband: Leonard Holt; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends; including a special niece: Cheryl (Martyn) Gallus of Kentucky.
Carol will lie-in-state from 10:00am until 11:00am on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, 186 Cole Road. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am also at Zion with Pastor Daniel Slaughter, Associate Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 has been entrusted with her arrangements.
