Obituary of Joseph Huss

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph Walter Huss III was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 8, 1946. He was one of two sons born from the union of Joseph Walter Huss Jr. and Patricia (Roach) Huss. Joseph was a graduate from Bedford High School. He served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army during Vietnam. Joseph married the love of his life the former Barbara Ann (Rau) Dyer on February 23, 1991 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. For twelve years they made their home in Chelsea moving to Newport in 2011. For more than twenty years, Joseph worked as a truck driver. It was an occupation that he truly loved. He looked forward to long hauls and the open road. Some of his routes took him on three week cross country jaunts and other regular routes took him back and forth to Texas. No matter where the haul; it was Joe's passion through and through. Joe also had a lifelong fascination with trains. He loved them all, collecting model trains as well. Joseph was well known for his stubborn, hard-headed, grouchy ways, but he was still a joy to be around. In fact, Joe was the center of attention at family reunions and get-togethers; probably because of his gift of telling jokes and stories, which of course he had to embellish. Joseph Walter Huss III age 66 of Newport passed away at 5:46pm, Thursday, October 11, 2012 in his home. In addition to his parents, Joseph's passing was preceded by his father-in-law: Loren Rau. To cherish his memory, Joseph leaves his beloved wife of twenty-one years: Barbara Huss of Newport; a daughter: Michelle; two stepsons: William Randall Dyer of Newport and Sean Dyer of Perrysburg, Ohio; a brother: Patrick "Pete" Huss of Tiffin, Ohio; and his mother-in-law: Joyce Rau of Perrysburg, Ohio. Friends may gather from 5:00-9:00pm, Monday October 15, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734)384-5185.
