Boyd L. Mason was born July 6, 1927 in Claiborne County, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Bern Mason Sr. and the late Lucy (Jennings) Mason. Boyd served his country honorably in the Navy aboard the USS Albemarle in the Pacific Ocean from 1945-1947. Following his discharge, Boyd made his way North from Tennessee moving to Monroe. Boyd married the former Ina Lee McDaniel on August 15, 1949 in Angola, Indiana. He took employment for two years at Kelsey Hayes Monroe, then five years at Ford Motor Monroe and then spent thirty years and eight months at Powertrain Chevrolet in Toledo retiring in 1987. He was a life member of VFW Post 4093, Carleton. Boyd had a beautiful smile the kind that would make you smile back. He was an avid fisherman, loving the waters of Lake Erie whenever possible, and met with fellow anglers at Bolles Harbor each afternoon. Many days were spent with his beloved companion, Charlie. Together they shared a big La-Z-Boy and watched the world through their big picture window. Boyd L. Mason age 85 of Monroe passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 at Superior Woods. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by his beloved wife: Ina Lee; his daughter: Cathy Keck; two brothers: Bern Jr. and Robert Mason; and four sisters: Ruth Lynch, Peggy Dotson, Betty Sue Archer, and Billie Jean Robinson. To cherish his memory he leaves two daughters: Delores (Kenneth) Glambin of Monroe and Marianne Laginess of Monroe; one sister: Eva Jane (John) Chittum of LaSalle; one brother: Owen Mason of Lafayette, Indiana; two grandsons: William (Danielle) Diaz of Warren and Scott (Denise) Keck of Laccassas, Tennessee; three granddaughters: Connie Diaz of Monroe, Nicole Diaz of Ida, Suzanne (Robert) Boyd of Monroe; twelve great grandchildren: including eight boys and four girls from ages 18 ½ to 1 ½ years of age.
