Obituary of Carolyn Meyer

Carolyn Elizabeth Meyer was born in Belton, Texas on October 22, 1942. She was one of three children born from the union of the late Ernest George "E.G." Wood and Mary Bonita (Drake) Wood. She earned her GED through LaVega in Bellmeda. Carol was a member of Forest Grove Baptist Church while living in Chandler, Texas. She enjoyed embroidery, skiing, bowling; participating in several leagues in Chandler and also at Monroe Sports Center. She loved horseback riding. For many years, Carolyn was a single mother, and her children knew her to be a hard worker, and stated she always did the best she could to provide for them. She was an excellent baker, and some of her custom recipes included: pumpkin bread, and apple bread. She married Michael Meyer Sr. on August 30, 1999 in Monroe, Michigan. Carolyn Elizabeth Meyer age 69 of Luna Pier passed away at 12:35am, Saturday, September 21, 2012 at her home. She had been under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by a twin son and daughter, and two brothers-in-law: William Steinman and Louis Carolyn leaves four children: Deanna Foster of Luna Pier; Perry (Tina) Peeters of Chandler, Texas; Stephen Peeters of Rosharon, Texas; Glen (Maria) Cofer of Windsboro, Texas; three step children: Mark (Erin) Thompson of Rome, Georgia, David (Cheryl) Meyer of Toledo, Ohio, and Mike (Teresa) Meyer Jr. of Monroe; one brother: Burnett (Martha) Wood of Dallas, Texas; one sister: Bonita (James) Spivey of Houston, Texas; five sister-in-law: Linda (Paul) Gerard of Coleman; Eleanor (Tony) Bayer of Luna Pier, Lorraine (George) Webber of Temperance, Brenda Wohlfeil of Monroe, and Barbara Steinman of Monroe; four grandchildren: Michael Foster, Stephen Peeters, Joe Peeters, and Marcus Cofer; eight step grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. Friends may gather from 4:00pm until 8:00pm, Monday, September 24, 2012 and from 12:00pm until 8:00pm, Tuesday, September 25, at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 11:00am, Wednesday, September 26, 2012 also at Merkle's. The Rev. Mark Witte, Associate Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. Cremation will follow and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Chandler.
