David Allen Shuler was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 23, 1964. He was the son of Edward Shuler and the late Eleanor (Krol) Shuler. He was a 1982 graduate of Lincoln Park High School. David enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his country honorably obtaining the rank of AE2. On April 26, 1997, David married the former Kathryn "Michelle" Vincent in Lincoln Park. From this union came the birth of two children: Tori and Cade. The young family moved to Monroe in 2001. David was a hard worker and he was extremely devoted to supporting his family. He cherished the time that he spent with his children, they were his life, and he was a great father. For eighteen years, David worked as a bricklayer for Local Union 1. He was employed by local companies: Poley, O'Neal and Grey Core Masonry. David was a great bowler and could often be found at Fort Park in Lincoln Park. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting. David was a diehard Lion's fan. He had supported his team by being a season ticket holder for many years. David Allen Shuler, age 48, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2012 at Regency Hospital of Toledo. His passing was preceded by his mother, Eleanor in December of 2011. To cherish his memory he leaves his beloved wife: Michelle of Monroe; children: Tori and Cade Shuler of Monroe; father: Edward Shuler of Lincoln Park; father-in-law: David (Maria) Reiser of Charlotte, North Carolina; mother-in-law: Brinda Charlton of St. Louis Missouri; brothers: Eddie (Diane) Shuler, Jr. of Grosse Ile and Rick (Pam) Shuler of South Rockwood; sisters-in-law: Tammy (Bill) Russette of Clawson and Dawn Lemieux of LInden; nieces: Megan Shuler, Chelsea (Jay) Ray, Rachel (B.J.) Mercier, Brittanie, Brooke Lemieux; nephews: Danny, Jacob, and Benjamin Shuler, Bauer and Broc Lemieux; and a great-niece: Sydney Ray. Friends may gather from 2:00-7:00pm, September 20, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 7:00pm also at Merkle's with David Reiser his father-in-law officiating. Graveside services at St. Patrick Cemetery will be private under the auspices of Monroe VFW Post 1138. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to David's children.
