Ivy Lucille Webb was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on August 24, 1928. She was one of eight children born from the union of the late Cyril Webb and the late Lucille (Leverett) Webb. She was a 1946 graduate of Monroe High School. For several years she worked as a dental assistant. She also worked as a Telephone Operator for Michigan Bell. Ivy married Loyd Sype on February 23, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker to her husband and four sons. She worked with Amway as a distributor for many years. For eighteen years she specialized in Home Interiors with a team of twenty individuals. When Ivy wasn't working, she was an avid reader and enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her flowers. She loved to travel, one of her favorite destinations was Up North with her sisters. They enjoyed the days spent together taking in the serene scenery. Ivy was very active in her local community as well. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Maybee where she had served on council, past treasurer of the Monroe Cooperative Extension Board, an active leader with the Boy Scouts, member of the London Fantasy Farmers, and a past 4-H leader. Ivy Lucille Sype, age 84 of Monroe passed away on Friday morning, March 29, 2013 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. In addition to her parents and her husband, Loyd in 2010 her passing was preceded by a son: Charles L. Sype; three sisters: Winnie Webb, Eunice Close, and Helen Sawyer; and one brother: Merle Webb. To cherish her memory she leaves three sons: Peter (Anita) Sype of Ypsilanti, Glen (Jennifer) Sype of Monroe, and Eric Sype of Maybee; three sisters: Joyce Ham of Ann Arbor, Maxine Adams of Belleville, and Emily Conrad (Dean) of Tecumseh; and one brother: Fred Webb of Washington. Friends may gather from 4:00pm until 8:00pm, Monday, April 1, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 11:00am, Tuesday, April 2, 2013 also at Merkle's with the Reverend Timothy Lentner of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Cremation will follow through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia. Memorial donations in her honor are suggested to American Cancer Society.
