Obituary of Kay Bunch

Please share a memory of Kay to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kay Lynne Spence was born in Trenton on June 22, 1949. She was the daughter of the late Clarence P. Spence and the late Marie (Bond) Spence Thompson. Kay graduated in 1967 from Jefferson High School. She met the love of her life, James Dennis Bunch while working as a car-hop. After a brief courtship the couple exchanged vows on December 28, 1968. Kay reaffirmed her faith and was born again through the waters of baptism at Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church on November 2, 1975. For more than twenty years, Kay worked in housekeeping for Mercy Memorial Hospital. She loved her Lord, her family, and her church. Kay enjoyed cooking and was good at it. She collected cookbooks and at one time had acquired 300. Funny enough, however, Kay usually got her best recipes off the internet. Kay loved to visit yard sales and shopping through QVC. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers. Kay liked picking vegetables and canning. Even after becoming ill, she liked to bake and share her delicious creations with others. Kay Lynne Bunch age 63 of Monroe went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 22, 2012. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by four brothers: Clarence, Alan, Edward Spence and Vernon Thompson; one sister: Ruth Ann Thompson; and two sisters-in-law: Marci and Andrea Spence. To cherish her memory she leaves a husband of nearly forty-four years: Dennis of Monroe; three children: Daniel (Lisa) Bunch of Monroe, Lori (Stephen) Koscho of Monroe, and James D. Bunch Jr. of Champagne, Illinois; four grandchildren: Joshua Allen Slater, Rylee Lynn Koscho, Zachary Joseph Bunch, and Ashley Nicole Bunch all of Monroe; two brothers: Harvey (Lyn) Spence and Russell (Jessie) Spence; one sister: Susan (Rust); one sister-in-law: Debra Thompson; and her cat: Sassy. Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm, Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. She will lie in state from 10:00am until a Celebration of Her Life at 11:00am, Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church, 223 West Hurd Road. The Rev. B.J. McDaniel pastor of the church will officiate. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to the church building fund.
