Arthur Charles Reed
August 11, 1934 - January 14, 2009
Arthur Charles Reed was born on August 11, 1934 in Charleston, West Virginia from the union of the late Furd Reed and the late Ellen (Reece) Reed. He married his love Terry King on July 1, 1968 in Detroit, Michigan.
Arthur moved to Tennessee when he was two years old, and then moved to Monroe in 1952 to find work. He was not afraid of hard work. He worked in the roofing industry for many years. Arthur's roofing work included commercial and residential properties.
Arthur was a family man. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife and children.
Arthur and Terry were given the gift of four loving children; a son: Charles and daughter-in-law: Jeanette Reed of Irvington, Kentucky; a daughter: Sherri Reed at home in Newport; a daughter: Ivy and son-in-law: Byron Finley of Temperance, and a daughter: Kelly Cousino-Szasz and son-in-law: John Szasz of Monroe. These four children blessed the Reed's with five grandchildren: Lydia, Josh, Klarissa, Chad and Tyler. Arthur also shared many memories with his three brothers: Wendel Reed; Jack Reed; and Arvel Reed; and a brother-in-law: Jim Kell.
Arthur Charles Reed, age 74 of Newport passed from this life at 9:45am; Wednesday, January 14, 2008 at his home. His family was at his side. Arthur and his family had been under the care and direction of Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by two brothers: Bruce Reed and Junior Reed; and a sister: Reva Kell.
Friends may gather from 11:00am until a Celebration of His life at 1:00pm, Friday, January 16, 2009 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, (734) 384-5185. The Rev. Gary Pickrell a member of Victory Temple Church will officiate. Procession will follow to Michigan Memorial Park in Huron Township for burial.
