Geneva K. Amiot June 27, 1915 - July 5, 2008 Geneva Amiot, age 93, of Frenchtown Township, passed away peacefully at 2:25pm on Saturday; July 5, 2008. Geneva moved to the Monroe, Michigan area five years ago to live with her son and daughter-in-law. For more than four years they served as her caretaker. Geneva was born June 27, 1915 in Sikeston, Missouri the daughter to the union of the late John H. Keller and the late Mae (Ward) Keller. In 1929 the Keller family moved from Sikeston to Rock Island, Illinois. Geneva attended the Rock Island Public Schools. She married Lawrence William Amiot in Chicago, Illinois on April 29, 1944. Lawrence passed away in 1962. After Lawrence's passing, Geneva worked ten years for Modern Woodmen of America Fraternity Life Insurance, retiring in 1977. However, she was first and foremost a homemaker. She loved her children and considered raising them her most important accomplishment. She also enjoyed the opportunity to help raise grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a true love for her furry friends as well. She leaves to cherish her memory a beloved son and daughter-in-law: Francis and Joyce Amiot of Frenchtown Township; five loving grandchildren: Tina (James) Wolff of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Michelle Amiot of Chiccopee, Massachusetts, Paul L. Amiot of Columbus, Indiana, Julie Amiot of Monroe, Michigan, and Candise Gowan of Milan, Illinois; seven adoring great grandchildren and one great-great granchild. She was preceded in her passing by her husband: Lawrence; her parents; a son: Michael Lawrence Amiot in 1982; and a twin sister: Genevive Keller. A private memorial service will be held. She will be interned next to her husband in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline, Illinois.
