Larry P. Jennings
March 10, 1949 - May 4, 2008
Larry Paul Jennings, age 59, of Riverview passed away at 4:25am, Sunday morning, May 4, 2008 at Oakwood Southshore Medical Center. He had been seriously ill for the past three weeks.
Larry was born March 10, 1949 in Monroe, Michigan to the union of the late Roy Jennings and the late Lena (Wagner) Jennings. In 1967 he graduated from Monroe High School. He married Dorian Bogert on October 17, 1990 in Toledo, Ohio.
Larry moved to the Downriver area in the late 1980's. For the past sixteen years he worked in merchandising and sales for the Coffee Connection of Troy, Michigan.
Larry enjoyed decorating his home for holidays. For five straight years he won awards in the City of Riverview for his decorations. He was even inducted into the Riverview Hall of Fame.
Larry was an avid gardener and was particularly fond of roses. He also enjoyed playing golf. Larry was a Girl's Softball coach. He was a huge baseball and football fan; listing the Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Lions, and Detroit Tigers among his favorite teams. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Brownstown.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of eighteen years; Dorian, two sons: Jeremy Jennings and Jon Jennings and his fiancé Amber Arnold both of Monroe; two daughters: Jenna Madron of Lafollette, TN and Sarah and David Peralta of Tampa, FL; four sisters: Marilyn Tyra of Toledo, Lois Menna of Lambertville, Helen Louise and Jerry Salter of Temperance, and Ruth Sheline of Toledo; two brothers: David and Lynn Jennings and Dennis Jennings both of Monroe; six grandchildren: Sierra, Jared, and Emma Peralta and Lisa, Mike, and Josh Madron; and one great grandson: Jacob White. In addition to his parents a brother: Donald passed away before him.
Friends may gather from 2-9pm, Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, Frenchtown Township, (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 11:00am, Wednesday also at Merkle Funeral Service. The Rev. Eugene White pastor of Bible Fellowship Church, Monroe will officiate. Cremation will follow though Southern Michigan Services, Livonia.
The family suggests memorials be made to Family Counseling and Shelter Services of Monroe.
