Harold Eugene Beatty September 27, 1950 - January 2, 2011 Harold Eugene Beatty was born in Trenton, Michigan on September 27, 1950. He was one of seven children born from the union of the late Raymond Leroy Beatty and Pearl Marie (Sutton) Beatty. Harold served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict from December of 1970 until September of 1973. He married the former Linda Hubert in the Summer of 1970. His beloved Linda passed away in 1975. Harold worked for several years as a Delivery Driver for Sonic Air in Romulus. He medically retired in 1995. He was a member of the Don Hubert VFW Post 345 in Redford Township. Harold was also a member of the Monroe Family YMCA where he enjoyed exercising, and was an avid NASCAR fan and especially of Jeff Gordon. He collected race memorabilia and was in the Gordon Fan Club. Harold love boating trips, and looked forward to party boat rentals in Kentucky. He was a momma's boy of sorts. He wasn't afraid to share his love for his mom and had painstakingly been her caretaker for many years. Harold was also a big fan of the band Barfly, and he counted the members among his close friends. He loved to watch television and had a passion for coin collecting. Harold Eugene Beatty age 60 of Monroe passed away at 8:10am, Sunday, January 2, 2011 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. In addition to his father and wife his passing was preceded by a sister: Darlene Cook. He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter: Michelle Beatty (Joe Bentley) of Cape Coral, Florida; a son: Scott (Kelley) Beatty of North Carolina; his mother: Pearl Marie Beatty of Taylor; four grandchildren: Jenna Bentley of San Antonio, Texas, Jessica Bentley, Jamie Bentley, and Joseph Alex Bentley all of Cape Coral, Florida; three brothers: Chuck (Kathy) Beatty of Woodhaven, Ray (Diane) Beatty of Oscoda, and Bill (Caren) Beatty of Lexington, KY; two sisters: Patricia Paquette (Brian Navarre) of Kissimmee, FL and Joan (Ronald) Sweitzer of Taylor; and many nieces and nephews. Private services were held at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 with the Monroe Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1138 providing military honors. Harold was laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
