Julia Kush was born in Twin Rocks, Pennsylvania on May 28, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin V. Kush and the late Julia (Epoch) Kush. She attended Big Ben Elementary School. At the age of 16 the family moved to Michigan, and Julia began her employment with Mercy Hospital. She graduated from Monroe High School with the class of 1946. While working at Mercy Hospital for nearly twenty years she worked with admitting and insurance. Julia married Lyle B. Robinson on September 27, 1947 in Monroe at St. Joseph Parish. With the birth of three children, Julia retired in 1963 to focus on being a homemaker. She was an avid golfer and bowler. Julia bowled in several leagues including: Hit and Miss, Doubles, and Senior. She also enjoyed bowling and golf on the WII, and bingo every Sunday. Julia was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxillary, and also the Frenchtown Senior Citizens. Julia Robinson age 82 of Monroe passed away at 2:04am, Saturday, August 14, 2010 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center Regional Heart and Vascular Center where she had been for a week. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by a stepfather: George Herman; two children: Lyle B. Robinson on October 8, 2008 and Barbara Ann Brooks on November 12, 2005; one brother: Rudolph Shorter; and two sisters: Margaret Robinson and Ethel Boylan. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter: Carol Bollenberg of Monroe; a sister: Dolores Haynes of Monroe; two beloved aunts: Margaret Rostash and Laura Kush both of Monroe; eight grandchildren: Jeffrey Robinson of Monroe, Scott Ferguson of Monroe, Julie (Keith) Healy of Lambertville, Ronnie Brooks of Belleville, Andrew (Sarah) Brooks of Carleton, Sarah Bollenberg, Robert Bollenberg, and Christopher Bollenberg all of Monroe; nine great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. Friends may gather from 12:00-8:00pm, Tuesday; August 17, 2010 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 where a Scripture Service will be led by Father William Fisher at 7:00pm. She will lie in state from 9:00am until the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00am, Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 924 East Second Street.
