Ace C. Williams August 15, 1951 - August 6, 2010 Ace C. Williams was born in Carleton, Michigan on August 15, 1951. He was one of ten children born from the union of the late Joel G. Williams and the late Betty G. (Lavigne) Williams. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1969 until 1972. He obtained the rank of Private First Class and worked as a master mechanic. Ace married the former Roxanne Young in 1974. They shared several years of marriage and the birth of two children. On May 14, 1979, Ace received his journeyman card in carpentry as a member of Local 1913 in California. Being a mechanic and carpenter meant working with his hands. Ace always loved or at least he felt the obligation to fix everybody else's stuff. Ace enjoyed the great outdoors and he enjoyed spending time with his family. He especially looked forward to fishing and hunting Up North with his nephews and brothers. Ace also had a passion for camping. He had a great sense of humor and he was well known for being a real jokester. His unique personality and confidence allowed him to, "do his own thing". Ace C. Williams age 58 of Newport passed away at 1:30pm, Friday, August 6, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family. In addition to his parents and his former wife; his passing was preceded by two sisters: Shirley Marie Williams and Ruth Baumia. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons: Ace Williams and Matthew Williams; four sisters: Margaret (Roger) Wenze, Claudia Shepherd, Emma Eagle, and Iva Moore; three brothers: Joel (Sonta) Williams, John (Gerry) Williams, and Paul (Vicky) Williams; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. On Monday, August 9, 2010 friends may gather at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 from 5:00pm until a presentation of military honors by the Monroe Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1138 at 7:00pm. A Celebration of His Life will follow the military service. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family.
