William Dale Gillet Sr.November 24, 1932 - December 13, 2007 William Dale Gillet Sr., age 75, died at 2:50pm, Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Mercy Memorial Nursing Center. William was under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice. Cremation has taken place through Southern Michigan Services, Livonia. Friends may gather from 5pm until a memorial service celebrating his life at 7:00pm, Friday, December 21, 2007 at the Merkle Funeral Home, 2442 North Monroe Street, Frenchtown Township. William was born November 24, 1932 in Luna Pier, Michigan. He was the son of Charles and Rose (Phillips) Gillet. He married Virginia Payne in Monroe, Michigan. He was a United States Navy veteran. While living in Florida William was a member of the American Legion Post. He is survived by six children: William D. Gillet Jr. of Monroe, Betty and Darrell Jackson of Punta Gorda, Florida, Sandy Gillet of Winchester, Virginia, David Gillet of Punta Gorda, Florida, Jerry and Linda (Gillet) of Punta Gorda, and Richard Gillet of Port Charlotte, Florida; a sister: Ethel Zilka of Monroe; ten grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Virginia, on May 9, 1991, a son: Russell Gillet, a sister: Viginia Kerschner, and a brother: Raymond Kelly. For those desiring memorial contributions are suggested to the family.
