Everett Edison Harris December 12, 1917 - July 6, 2010 Everett Edison Harris was born in LaFollette, Tennessee on December 12, 1917. He was the son of the late Alvis McClellan and the late Amanda Richardson. Everett served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army. He obtained the rank of Mess Sergeant and served from 1940 until 1945 as a member of the 32nd Division C Company. He moved to Monroe via Akron, Ohio. On February 17, 1944 he married the love of his life the former Cynthia (Smith) Carroll. Everett took employment with the Time Container Company which later became Jefferson Smurfitt. He worked as a machinist. His employment lasted more than thirty years before retiring in 1984. Everett as a young man enjoyed traveling with his family. He also loved the outdoors and the likes of hunting and fishing. In 1987, Everett became a member of the Monroe Moose Lodge 884. Everett Edison Harris age 92 of Monroe passed away at 7:40pm, Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Tendercare of Monroe. His loving family was at his side. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by his beloved spouse: Cynthia on May 27, 1982; a daughter: Judith Ann Rowlett on January 8, 2001; a son-in-law: David Rowlett; a granddaughter: Roxann Rowlett Evans on November 1, 2008; and ten brothers and sisters. His memory will forever be cherished by his daughter: Susan (Fred) Williams of Monroe; Four grandchildren: Gari Lynn (Tomkinson) Stoze and Dan, Douglas Tomkinson and Becky, JoAnna (Rowlett) Jewell, Rochele (Rowlett) Leach and Brian ; fourteen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Friends may gather at 11:00am on Friday, July 16, 2010 at Woodland Cemetery for a graveside service. The Rev. Von Loop a family friend will officiate. Graveside services will be under the auspices of Monroe VFW Post 1138. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 is entrusted with his arrangements.
