Obituary of Richard Hendrien

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard Roy Hendrien Jr. was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 7, 1960. He was the son of Pauline (Stanley) Herrell and stepson of Ford Herrell; the only father he knew. Richard attended Monroe Public Schools. He married the love of his life, the former Jeannette Shaw on May 16, 1992 in Burlington, Kentucky. Together the couple would raise her two children. Rick had amazing, unconditional love for his spouse. Even through her own personal health issues, he stood by her side unwavering. In fact he often placed the needs of others above those of his own. Rick was a hard worker, and was passionate about his work and especially how he cared for his clients. On many occasions he opened his home to them for lunch with his family or holiday meals. He rarely took a vacation from his Manager position at Macomb Residential Opportunities. He was proud and excited to reach his anniversary of 20 faithful years of service which only ended early due to his illness. Richard loved automobiles. He wasn't the mechanic type but he admired their beauty and the engineering marvels that they were. Rick loved collecting pocket knives and pocket watches. Although, he was not to be mistaken as an accomplished musician, Richard found great solace when strumming his guitar. Richard Roy Hendrien Jr., age 55 of Monroe passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Wellspring Lutheran Services in Monroe. Richard was preceded in death by his grandmother, Katherine Stanley. To cherish his memory he leaves a beloved wife of twenty-three years: Jeannette of Monroe; his mother and stepfather: Pauline and Ford Herrell of Corbin, Kentucky; his son: Matthew (Rebecca) Elliott of Monroe; his daughter: Samantha Scheick (Steven Findlay) of Toledo, Ohio; one sister: Tammy Slusher of Corbin, Kentucky; three brothers: Mitchell "Moe" (Peggy) Hendrien of Monroe, Wayne (Melissa) Herrell and Allen Herrell both of Corbin, Kentucky; and his work family: Ray and Keith. Friends and family may gather at 4:00pm on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Crosswalk Community Church, 925 South Telegraph Road for a celebration of life memorial service.
